Experience

Tamiah has worked for Mars-Wrigley, the popular confectionary company behind popular candies like M&M's, at their flavor development lab. Her writing history focuses primarily on nutrition, especially the health impacts of popular foods. Due to her biochemistry background, she also extensively studies and writes about the history and science behind artificially developed foods, such as MSG or aspartame. As a side project, Tamiah writes political and cultural opinion pieces through Substack. In 2025, she joined Static Media as a features writer for Tasting Table, where she focuses on food and restaurant news.

Education

Tamiah began her biochemistry undergraduate program in 2021 at Northern Illinois University. In addition to her major, she is currently working on minors in nutrition and journalism. At Northern Illinois University, she has worked with researchers studying protein interactions and was recognized for being an outstanding journalism undergraduate by the Donald R. Grubb scholarship. In 2021, Tamiah also became a licensed esthetician.
