Houston's dining scene has been ramping up in the last few years, and this fall's restaurant openings are only adding to the momentum. From old favorites starting new ventures to one of the world's favorite burger chains, the dining options in Houston just keep getting better. We're looking into plane tickets right now—and we think you will, too, after seeing what's coming.

Pi Pizza: Houston's popular Pi Pizza truck, started by Anthony Calleo almost five years ago, will finally open a brick-and-mortar location—so you'll always be able to find it. There will be 20 different pizzas, appetizers, salads and frozen cocktails.

60 Pioneers: Lyle Bento and Charles Bishop of Southern Goods are opening this indoor-outdoor ode to Texas cuisine, which means you can expect kolaches, BBQ and chicken-fried steak, as well as dishes rooted in the cultures that have historically influenced the state (think German, Czech and Cajun/Creole). That doesn't narrow things down much, but we're not complaining.

Riel: Chef Ryan Lachaine, the former sous-chef at Reef and Underbelly, is opening a modern American restaurant that will focus on small plates, with a few larger dishes, in Montrose this Fall. It may sound like a familiar formula, but with this chef in the kitchen, it's sure to be anything but. Expect dishes like flank steak with kimchi, water spinach, duck yolk and gochujang.

Shake Shack: The city of Houston will soon be able to claim its very own outpost of the wildly popular burger chain, which is set to open in The Galleria before the end of the year. Not only that, but another location will open in Rice Village later in 2017. It's time to break out the stretch pants.
