Thyme-Infused Wine Punch Recipe

Find thyme to enjoy this refreshing cocktail

Consider this cocktail a chance to get lost in the Alps in beverage form. Vin de Savoie, a dry white wine from the Savoy wine region of France, and cognac add a touch of sophistication, while a thyme-infused syrup adds a savory and balanced sweetness. The cocktail is bright and fresh, thanks to a little lemon juice, cherry brandy and a sparkling wine topper.

Ingredients

  • For the Thyme Syrup
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 10 thyme sprigs
  • For the Thyme-Infused Wine Punch
  • 1½ ounces Vin de Savoie
  • ½ ounce lemon juice
  • ½ ounce thyme syrup
  • ¼ ounce cognac
  • ¼ ounce kirsch (cherry brandy)
  • Ice cubes, for shaking and serving
  • 3 ounces dry sparkling wine
  • Lemon wheel, for garnish
  • Thyme sprig, for garnish

Directions

  1. Make the thyme syrup: In a small saucepan, stir all the ingredients together and bring to a boil. Once the syrup is clear and the sugar has completely dissolved, turn off the heat and allow the thyme to steep as it cools to room temperature. Strain the syrup and reserve for later.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, add the Vin de Savoie, lemon juice, thyme syrup, cognac, kirsch and ice. Shake until chilled then strain into a wineglass with fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon wheel and thyme sprig, and serve.
