But sometimes, a brand gives its legacy time to build, like Skrewball. The brand launched the first successful peanut butter-flavored whiskey on the market in 2018 and has been steadily building its popularity since. Now, the brand is growing quickly in the whiskey category, even garnering some accolades, like winning the Best Flavored Whiskey Award at the New York World Wine and Spirits Competition.

Now, eight years after it first launched, the brand has finally decided to innovate. Building on the peanut butter flavor profile, Skrewball introduced Peanut Butter and Strawberry Jelly Flavored Whiskey in September 2026, a rather sensible flavor derivation of the iconic spirit. The beverage is meant to bring nostalgia to consumers by taking them back in time to that classic sandwich they ate when they were kids — and maybe to bring some whimsy back into their evenings.

I expected the strawberry jelly flavor to elevate the experience of drinking Skrewball, but I also wanted the classic peanut butter Skrewball flavor to remain distinct and intact.

When a brand waits this long to make a change to its beverage lineup, people are going to expect something good to come out of it. When taste-testing this product, I considered one important question: Does this flavor enhance the original peanut butter whiskey enough to make it worth the wait?

A vague strawberry aroma wafted from the can when I opened it, but for the most part, the smell was not distinct. The liquid looked thick and syrupy, and that is reflected in the mouthfeel initially as well. However, the more I sipped, the more that mouthfeel evened out and became more pleasant.

On my initial sip, I was surprised because it was actually quite palatable. The whiskey also had a nice balance of flavors; I could taste each aspect of the PB&J separately, though subtly, on the first few sips. At that point, the drink tasted sweet and syrupy, like those foil-wrapped strawberry candies I can never remember the name of. Though there is a slight burn on the backend of the sip, it mostly goes down easy, which is a testament to the effectiveness of the flavors.

The strawberry flavor tends to shine more on the palate, but there is a vague sense of peanut butter in the drink for sure. It is nutty and slightly roasted, which complements the smokiness of whiskey. As you drink the can, every flavor has its own moment to shine, leading to a balanced drink by the end. Overall, I found Skrewball's Peanut Butter and Strawberry Jelly Flavored Whiskey really enjoyable.

If you tried this whiskey with your eyes closed, you could guess that it was peanut butter and jelly-flavored. This flavor variation is sure to bring drinkers back to the nostalgia of their childhoods while reminding them that they are, in fact, all grown up now. The flavors were mostly clear, though there were times when the strawberry shone more than anything else. Still, I did not mind that as much. The peanut butter flavors have had eight years as the sole focal point of Skrewball's branding; I think it is okay to let the strawberry shine for a little while.
