The Store-Bought Barbecue Sauce That Even Bobby Flay Stocks Up On

Bobby Flay and barbecue sauce go together like the dynamic Super Friends duo, the Wonder Twins. Separately, they are pretty good, but together, they're exponentially better. However, what might surprise fans of the "Throwdown!" host is that he doesn't always whip up his own special sauce. He has a favorite store-bought barbecue sauce that he keeps on the shelves of his pantry. In 2022, in conjunction with Misfits Market, Flay gave the Instagram world a tour of his very organized pantry and revealed he keeps jars of Bone Suckin' Sauce in reserve for dipping and to enhance the flavor of foods.

Like everything that's great, Bone Suckin' Sauce was developed in the late eighties by a real estate appraiser from North Carolina. The tangy sweet sauce contains a potpourri of aromatic, sweet, and spicy ingredients, including tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, honey, molasses, mustard, horseradish, lemon juice, onions, garlic, peppers, and hickory smoke.

Bobby Flay tops his burgers with spicy Bone Suckin' Sauce

Flay uses his Bone Suckin' Sauce, specifically the brand's Spicy Bone Suckin' Sauce, as a condiment when he makes burgers, according to Food Network, spreading two tablespoons on each half of the bun before adding jalapeños and some coleslaw. However, don't limit yourself to just burgers when it comes to this sauce. It can be used for pretty much whatever you want to barbecue, including pulled pork, ribs, and chicken.

And barbecue sauce isn't all this brand sells. Try the Bone Suckin' Yaki sauce the next time you want to make a salmon teriyaki rice bowl. This sauce uses real Italian balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. Bone Suckin' Sauce also offers a couple of different options to appeal to the barbecue palate. In addition to the spicy version used on Flay's burgers, you can also find a sweet version. And, if you want a thicker sauce, they've got you covered.
