Elevated Green Tea Shot Recipe

This elevated green tea shot recipe may not actually contain green tea (or its purported health benefits), but it will certainly make you feel more elegant as you pound back them back. We can thank TikTok for many recipes over the last three years, like baked feta pasta, egg avocado toast, and butter boards. That being said, the meteoric rise in popularity of the green tea shot has left us scratching our heads.

For a drink with a short list of unexpected ingredients, the name strikes as strange. However, typical green tea shot recipes feature strong frat vibes, and some questionable liquor choices. We wanted to take this simple, surprisingly-tasty shot, and give it an elevated makeover.

Food Blogger Ksenia Prints of At the Immigrant's Table pairs Irish whiskey with peach schnapps, and takes them to another level with premium lemon-lime soda, and homemade sour mix (because you really shouldn't drink premade sour mix). Follow this recipe to discover whether all the hype over this green tea-colored drink is justified, and why they are just so darn drinkable.

Gather the ingredients for this elevated green tea shot

To make our version of a green tea shot, you will need to start with homemade sour mix. For that, grab fresh lemons, sugar, and water. To build the rest of the drink, you will need an Irish whiskey like Jameson, a bottle of peach schnapps, and some premium lemon-lime soda.

Make the homemade sour mix

Start by juicing 1 lemon. You can do this by hand, or with an electric citrus juicer. Combine the lemon juice, sugar, and water in a jar with a top. Shake until the sugar is fully dissolved, and set aside.

Shake, and serve the green tea shot

Add the Irish whiskey, peach schnapps, and homemade sour mix into a shaker with ice. Close the shaker with a lid, or a pint glass, and shake for at least 30 seconds, until chilled. Strain into shot glasses, and top with a splash of a premium lemon-lime soda.
