Whisked! Bakery Cookie Recipe | Washington, D.C.

Best the other recipes at holiday cookie swaps

This month, Tasting Table is sweet on holiday cookies. This is the the fifth in our 12-part series, 12 Days of Cookies.

At the height of summer fruit season, the flour powers behind newly launched bakery stand Whisked! were churning out peach pies, Southern-inspired cakes and loaves of moist, crumbly zucchini bread.

Now that the markets have wound down, Jenna Huntsberger and Stephanie Willis, the baking gurus behind Whisked!, have turned to holiday flavors. And Huntsberger's favorites are chocolate and mint.

To satisfy her craving, she designed a chocolate-peppermint cookie that sandwiches fresh mint cream between soft, deeply cocoa-laced cookies. The cookies can handle extreme temperatures: They are equally good eaten alongside peppermint ice cream as they are dunked into hot chocolate.

Whisked! offers pickups for its baked goods on Friday and Saturday evenings at Weygandt Wines in Cleveland Park and Mr. Yogato in Dupont Circle, and will also offer gift boxes and assorted baked goods tomorrow and next Saturday at the Downtown Holiday Market.
