Who Is Salt Bae & Why Should You Care?

He gives a whole new meaning to the term "food porn"

While you were busy going vegan for the New Year, Nusret Gökce was making everyone's knees weak with his meat.

Gökce—passionately known around the world as Salt Bae—is a Turkish chef who owns Nusr-Et, a small steakhouse chain.

And while butchering has been called a dirty job by some, Gökce's sensual salting practice is giving that stereotype a new meaning.

His effusive knife skills and delicate salting catapulted him into the honorary position of 2017's first great meme.

But unlike past phenomena, he's not your average 15-minutes-of-famer: According to a recent interview, he's already making moves to open restaurants in New York City and London, in addition to his seven other existing locations.

You can find Salt Bae tending to cows while wearing a low-cut white scoop neck and gold watch, long hair flowing in the breeze. He also finds time to pose for photos with Tommy Hilfiger. And he has more abs than teeth. He is: the most interesting man in the world.
