MoMA Store Debuts Iittala X Issey Miyake Collection

Your den deserves all the Japanese Finnish housewares from MoMA's Iittala x Issey Miyake collab

You're already familiar with Tex-Mex, the Cal-Ital trend and the sushi burrito. Now, Japanese-Finnish is the latest in cultural mash-ups you didn't know you needed.

But we don't mean bowls of ramen filled with pickled herring.

Renowned Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake and Finnish home decor brand Iittala have joined forces for Iittala x Issey Miyake, a line of minimal and modern tabletop items available exclusively at the MoMA Store. There are 30 items in the collection, ranging from origami-like coaster-trivet hybrids ($55 apiece) to angular pentagon-shaped mini plates ($30 apiece).

Each of the pieces harmoniously marries sleek Scandinavian design with Miyake's architectural, fluid aesthetic. The textiles are made up of beautiful pleated patterns and are refreshingly soft—miles away from the starchy linens you break out for "special occasions." And though made of mouth-blown glass, the delicate vase doesn't feel like it'll crumble under your fingers the second you place a flower in it.

That's the point: The collection isn't meant to replace your fine china set. It's intended to become part of your everyday rotation, primed for brunch parties and casual dinners for two.

And though the designs are timeless, that doesn't mean you can't outfit your house today.
