Father's Day Gift Guide 2018

9 gift ideas for Dad—none of which have anything to do with ties
Father's Day Gift Ideas 2018

Don't get too caught up in the excitement of summer's onset that you forget about Father's Day this Sunday (June 17!), showing up empty-handed and risking being cut out of the family Christmas card.

OK, that's a bit dramatic, but you might as well take the chance to thank your dad when the moment presents itself. And while these gifts only slightly beat out the macaroni necklace you made in kindergarten, they're sure to put you in the good graces of any food- and drink-loving dad.

Scroll through the slideshow to see our Father's Day picks.

  • Smithey 10-Inch Cast-Iron Skillet

The U.S.-made skillet company calls this pan a "modern icon" that people will "rely on for generations." Which, coincidentally, is also how your dad likes to think of himself.

  • Maapilim Face Moisturizer

A good skin care regimen will keep the young-at-heart dad looking like it, too. This moisturizer is made from natural ingredients from around the Great Sea, like jojoba oil, rosemary oil and aloe vera.

  • Flight Experience

Jim Beam wants to whisk you and your dad away on a bourbon trip to Kentucky for only $25 by way of a special package deal that will be posted for sale at random times until Father's Day. So hunker down and get acquainted with the refresh button on the brand's site.

  • The Beer Pantry and The Capper

This book from Adam Dulye and Michael Harlan Turkell is the ultimate reference for pairing craft beer with all of Dad's favorite foods. To go with it, throw in The Capper, a bottle opener (and closer!) designed to go hand in hand with the book.

  • Whiskey in a Tabasco Barrel

Hot sauce, aged spirit, quality brand . . . this bottle, which is like a grown-up version of Fireball, checks off all the boxes. Even the spice-averse will take delight in it, as the heat level is more warming tingle than sear-your-face-off blaze.

  • Personalized Chef's Knife

This well-designed kitchen newcomer has three layers of Japanese steel and is surprisingly affordable for a tool of such high quality. For the holiday, you can choose to have it engraved with a message, like "watch the thumb" or "don't mess up."

  • Sightglass Coffee Chocolate

Dick Taylor chocolate, which makes its delicious craft bars right outside the redwoods in Eureka, California, just released a new flavor that combines quality espresso from SF's Sightglass Coffee with 68 percent dark chocolate.

  • Just Spices Vegetable Seasoning

Don't let the name deceive you: This blend, which is spiced up with cayenne and Tellicherry pepper, works just as well on eggs, grilled chicken and even as a savory addition to oatmeal.
