Super Mario Gets His Own Bar

Naturally, there are floating mushrooms

You can now have a drink with Mario and Luigi in the Mushroom Kingdom. D.C.'s Mockingbird Hill cocktail bar has been transformed for the season (until April 15) with animatronic piranha plants and red, blue, gold and green button mushrooms hanging from the ceiling.

There are drinks from the James Beard semifinalist team that keep with the theme, like It's a Me, Amario (sweet vermouth, amaro and spicy ginger ale), Press Start + A (Japanese whisky, Cardamaro and Cynar) and King Koopa Cup (whiskey, "popcorn" tea ginger and lemon).

If the 90s throwback isn't what you are looking for, Mockingbird Hill's sister space, Southern Efficiency (the two are connected inside) is decked out for cherry blossom season with the ceiling draped in tree branches, Washingtonian reports. The drink list skews Japanese and floral, with cocktails like the Eat, Drink and Be Cherry (Japanese whisky, cherry and almond liqueurs, and lemon) and the large-format Flower Power, which fuels four drinkers with sherry, rum, pineapple, lemon and clarified milk.

No matter which bar strikes your fancy, be prepared to wait to get in. The wait can stretch up to two hours, so maybe bring an old handheld Nintendo player to keep you entertained.
