Pokémon Go Bar Crawl Coming To NYC

Pokémon Go players, get ready for an NYC bar crawl

The Pokémon Go game obsession has reached new levels over the past few days, with players chasing Pokémon all over New York City (and the country). So what's another way to cash in on the Pokémon Go insanity? Booze, of course. It was only a matter of time, really, before someone created a Pokémon Go-inspired bar crawl.

Players in cities across the country and around the world are arranging bar crawls through Facebook: See Sacramento, California, Denver, Colorado, St. Augustine, Florida and Brisbane, Australia. For NYC residents, a crawl is scheduled for Saturday, July 23, at Barcade in Brooklyn. The invite reads, "Let's catch a buzz while we catch em all!!!" So far, 2.3K people are going, with another 12K interested. Want to find a bar crawl near you? Simply type "Pokémon Go pub crawl" into your Facebook search bar.

Bars and restaurants are also tapping into the Pokémon Go movement by advertising "Pokéstops" at their locations, as well as selling Pokémon Go-inspired treats. According to PopSugar, some restaurants are even purchasing "lures" within the game, which allows them to attract Pokémon characters to their desired locations for a 30-minute window to get players in the door.
