LEGO Pop-Up Bar NYC 2019

Prepare your liver for this blast from the past

What happens when one of the most iconic childhood toys of all time collides with New York City's legendary nightlife scene? Some good old-fashioned fun with a pinch of social media magic.

On Wednesday, June 19, the Big Apple will welcome the highly anticipated, LEGO-themed Brick Bar. Just in time for the start of summer, the whimsical pop-up bar is slated to open its doors at Bogart House, a popular venue in Brooklyn's East Williamsburg district. But New Yorkers planning to take a walk down memory lane will need to act quickly, considering the limited run is packing up and heading out of town on Sunday, June 23.

Though obviously inspired by LEGO, the trendy concept isn't officially affiliated with the brand—but that hasn't slowed its buzzworthy success in other major cities around the world. The Brick Bar first launched in London to rave reviews, and has since made appearances in destinations such as Sydney, Melbourne and Denver. Judging by its track record, it was only a matter of time before it made its New York debut. So what can hopeful patrons expect? The pop-up bills itself as the ultimate adult playground, and will boast a whopping collection of more than one million LEGO-like bricks. The bar will feature furnishings and sculptures built from the classic toys, including a wishing well, ball pit and lounge areas for guests to enjoy.

If the New York location follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, visitors can also expect a LEGO-built tennis table made from 22,000 bricks. Anybody looking to flex their creative muscles will be able to construct their own custom masterpieces with the seemingly infinite piles of blocks provided. There will even be multiple building competitions (with prizes) taking place around the clock.

Of course, it wouldn't be a proper pop-up bar without plenty of drinks. Bartenders will be mixing up creative concoctions (served in LEGO-inspired vessels, of course) while local DJs will spin their favorite tracks to keep the party going. Should hunger strike, guests can order snacks from a playful themed menu, like the signature trio of red, yellow and green brick-shaped sliders. Needless to say, the entire event will be chock full of nostalgic, Instagram-worthy moments.

To save a spot, make sure to purchase tickets through The Brick Bar website (starting at $15). But if you're not able to make it this time around, don't fret. After its New York cameo, the pop-up will eventually make its way to cities like Toronto, Houston and Miami. According to the website, even more locations will be announced in the coming months, so keep an eye on the official site, or follow along on Instagram, Facebook or YouTube for updates.
