For those nights when the corner store is just too far, Keurig is teaming up with Anheuser-Busch InBev to create an "in-home booze maker," essentially a Keurig for alcohol, Grub Street reports. Pop in a pod, press a button, and you'll have a glass of "beer, spirits, cocktails, and mixers" instantly, or at least that's the plan.

The two companies have put a team of 50 on R&D for the machine, which will use the technology from Keurig Kold, the company's instant soda maker that flopped after less than a year in production.

Meanwhile, major competitor SodaStream already has a product on the market in Europe that creates beer at home, and PicoBrew helps homebrewers make a beer simply, but over the course of several days.

Maybe the walk to the corner store isn't too far after all.
