All in favor of the bake sale, say I

The best part of elementary school wasn't the exhilarating freedom of recess or the smell of freshly sharpened pencils: It was the bake sales.

That's a fact perhaps no one knows better than new restaurant Please in Cincinnati. There, you can relive those sweet glory days as a lineup of guest pastry chefs sets up shop at Sunday brunch pop-ups all summer long. The series kicks off this weekend on May 20 with Stella Parks, author of the James Beard Award-winning cookbook BraveTart.

In June, it's all about Sasha Piligian from L.A.'s Sqirl, who "has a love for citrus and making culinary dreams come true." July will bring Zoe Taylor of Milktooth in Indianapolis (fingers crossed she brings some of her twice-baked croissants), and August will feature Anna Posey, one half of the team at Chicago's Elske. The series will wrap up in September with Maya Erickson of Lang Baan in Portland, Oregon; her Thai-inspired desserts will have you hooked immediately.

When all that sugar leaves you thirsty, there'll be wine on hand exclusively from women winemakers—something that was surely lacking from your third-grade bake sale fundraiser.
