John Besh Opens Marsh House In Nashville

Look out for his momma's gumbo

John Besh has always been synonymous with New Orleans, where he owns some of the city's best restaurants, like Willa Jean and Domenica. But yesterday, he welcomed diners to his newest restaurant, Marsh House in Nashville, Eater Nashville reports.

The restaurant is in the new Thompson Hotel and has a seafood bent to it. Both the lunch and dinner menus feature sections like Chilled, Shellfish and Fish, which include dishes like Besh's mom's gumbo recipe, made with okra, crab, shrimp and oysters, and a blue crab cavatelli with bottarga. For the non-fish lovers, there's a bone-in porterhouse and a Korean fried chicken sandwich with kimchi slaw and a fermented pepper aioli.

Breakfast is more classically Southern than seafood focused. There are biscuits from Lisa Marie White, Besh's partner and baker at Willa Jean, a Southern ham platter and a bag of Mountain Spring apple fritters.
