Untoasted, plain-cream-cheese-only purists, look away. You may not like the latest installment of Black Seed Bagels' monthly chef collaboration, but that's OK: it just means there's more for us.
This month, head baker Dianna Daoheung is teaming up with West Village steakhouse Quality Eats to tackle the all-star of the American sandwich canon: the PB&J. Except instead of spreading Skippy and Smucker's onto bagel halves and calling it a day, they're layering on homemade peanut butter, sweet-spicy jalapeño jam, tart apple slices and, finally (because no sandwich should go without it), a generous shingle of crispy bacon.
The sandwich will be available at all three Black Seed locations for the month of July and is just the latest in Daoheung's chef-bagel partnerships. Last month, Eleven Madison Park chef Daniel Humm designed a limited-edition smoked sturgeon and black truffle bagel sandwich.
