Thanksgiving Shepherd's Pie Recipe Video

Three words: mashed potato crust

Thanksgiving is around the corner which means it's officially Time to Celebrate. All month long we're bringing you recipes, tips, tricks and stories that are equal parts memorable and delicious.

Your leftovers deserve the same care and attention that you bestowed on your big meal. Last year, we went all out with our Thanksgiving potpie, so this year, we're keeping the ball rolling with the perfect recipe to stretch all those leftovers into a brand-new meal. Behold, a Thanksgiving shepherd's pie: Turkey and stuffing are mixed with peas and gravy before getting topped with garlic mashed potatoes. The dish gets baked to golden perfection, and there you have it: a meal that puts that ol' turkey sandwich to shame.

Though we love piping on the mashed potatoes, feel free to just spread them on top if you don't have a piping bag or star tip. However, we recommend using an offset spatula to make swirls and peaks in the topping. These ridges are the trick to a crisp and delicious crust that browns beautifully in the oven.
