With barbecue season in full swing, any excuse to throw an outdoor party is valid (parties for one totally count). But with the sun already going straight to your head, it's best to imbibe a cocktail that doesn't. This bitter ginger libation is the refreshing cherry on top of your summer Sunday. Now all your party needs is the perfect playlist.

Fernet and Ginger Beer

Recipe from the Tasting Table Test Kitchen

Yield: 1 cocktail

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: N/A

Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

Ice

1 ounce fernet

1 small bottle ginger beer

1 orange wedge, plus rind for garnish

Directions

1. Fill a Collins glass with ice. Add the fernet and top with the ginger beer.

2. Squeeze the juice from the orange wedge into the drink; twist the rind and rub it onto the rim of the glass, extracting the oils. Stir just enough to combine the ingredients, then garnish with the orange rind and serve.
