Brie Our Guest

Bake creamy Brie in a bread bowl for the perfect party app

Say you're in the throes of hosting a dinner party. Dirty dishes are piling up, but more snacks must be made. Don't panic. A bread bowl app is your savior.

This dish is its own vessel, so cleanup is easy. The spongy dough soaks up some of the flavor of whatever's inside, making it the only time actually eating your bowl is a good idea.

All you need is a round one-pound loaf of bread and an eight-ounce wheel of Brie. Cut off both the top rind of the Brie and the top of the bread loaf. Place the Brie on the bread and use a knife to trace and score the cheese, then scoop out the inside of the loaf and save it. Fit the Brie inside the hole of the loaf like a puzzle piece, put it on a baking sheet and bake at 350° for 15 minutes.

While your cheese is flirting with the oven, cut up the loaf's hat and tear its inside bits into equal-size pieces. Add them to the baking sheet halfway through the cooking time to turn them into toasty croutons, perfect for scooping up your creamy dip.

Once the Brie is soft and bubbly, take the cookie sheet out of the oven, drizzle your favorite honey and crack black pepper on top, and get ready to bowl over your guests the best way possible: with sweet, warm, gooey cheese.
