What To Do In NYC Memorial Day Weekend

Rain or shine, we're filling this 3-day weekend with food

A few showers isn't enough to stop us from kicking off summer. From a seafood shack pop-up to ribs and rosé to a whole-hog barbecue, we're using this three-day weekend as an extra excuse to dine out.

All Weekend

The Standard SeaShack Pop-Up

The Standard hotel is launching its seasonal summer pop-up, this year with a New England twist. Be there first to feast on hush puppies, fried clams and wedge salads—and don't forget a frozen daiquiri to beat the heat.

Saturday, May 26

Memorial Day Bash

Take a trip to the Coney Island shore to celebrate the holiday with local eats from Empanada Papa and a beer garden with games and a red, white and blue Randall special.

Sunday, May 27

Ribs and Rosé

Enjoy stunning views at Rooftop Reds as you lick Fletcher's BBQ sauce from your fingers and toast to the start of pink wine season.

SundayBest with Chef Adrienne Cheatham

The finalist of the latest Top Chef season is showcasing Southern cuisine in a whole new light at this one-night-only, four-course dinner pop-up.

Passport to Taiwan Festival

The best way to learn about a culture is through its food, and there will be plenty of it at this annual festival. Try bites like bamboo tamales, translucent dumplings and grassy mochi cakes. Preorder a gift bag filled with Taiwanese snacks, and you'll also get a raffle ticket for a chance to win a trip to Taipei.

Challah Bread Making Class for Kids

Teach your aspiring young chef a new talent at this hands-on baking class. Kids will mix, knead and braid their own loaves at Breads Bakery's Union Square kitchen.

Sunday Supper

North Brooklyn Farms, which transforms unused city space into urban growing grounds, is highlighting farm-to-table cooking via a three-course meal, proving it's possible to have sustainable and fresh food in a concrete cityscape.

Monday, May 28

North River Lobster Boat Cruise

Spend Memorial Day on the water as North River Lobster Co. kicks off its summer boat cruises. Enjoy a fully stocked raw bar while you coast along the Hudson.

Pink Out

The classic Memorial Day BBQ is getting a revamp at Bar Bacon. They're whole-roasting a hog and serving it with summer's official drink (yes, rosé). Take the rest of the day to deal with your food coma caused by house-made sausages, slaw, bourbon corn bread and other cookout dishes.
