7 Places To Celebrate Oktoberfest In NYC
For those who won't be flying to Munich
Oktoberfest, the annual festival celebrating Bavarian royalty, takes place September 16 through October 3 this year. (Yes, Oktoberfest actually starts in September.) Though we recommend you visit the stadium-sized beer tents in Munich at least once in your lifetime, if you can't make it to Germany this go-round, here are seven places in New York City where you can don your best lederhosen and work on your stein consumption.
① Massoni
The Dale Talde restaurant at the Arlo NoMad is offering deals the first two Saturdays of the celebration. For $49, you get unlimited beer and food, including schnitzel, a selection of sausages, spaetzle and apple strudels.
② Clinton Hall
Looking to make a trip to the real thing next year? Order a Bitburger Premium Pils or Erdinger Weissbräu from any of the three Clinton Hall locations to enter their Drink to Win a Trip to Germany raffle. ③ The Pennsy
For anyone who finds oneself in Midtown, The Pennsy is the place to go for all your German beer and food needs. The days to visit are the tapping of the keg on September 16 (including a live performance from a German band) or September 25, when it's hosting a stein-hoisting contest.
④ Threes Brewing
The Gowanus brewery is partnering with The Meat Hook to celebrate what each does best: beer and sausage. Get there for specials the first weekend of Oktoberfest, September 15 through 17.
⑤ Circa Brewing Co
Kick things off on Saturday, September 16, with a German polka band at 2 p.m., or enjoy a number of food and beer specials all festival long, including some traditional Oktoberfest favorites from head brewer Danny Bruckert.
⑥ Blue Ribbon
The restaurant's Brooklyn and Upper West Side locations are extending the celebration through the end of October. They've created a number of special menu items in honor of the occasion, including the Porkfest for Two, which features a grilled pork chop, bratwurst, pork belly, sauerkraut and potato purée. (That's our kind of fest.)
⑦ Bohemian Hall
This long-standing beer hall in Astoria is observing the holiday over a series of three weekends throughout September and October. Check out the pig roast over September 23 and 24, which kicks off the festivities.
