Motor City, meet Bridge City.

Detroit-based Shinola—crafter of handmade, built-to-last watches, leather goods, bicycles, backpacks and more—celebrated the opening of their store in Portland, Oregon, this week. It's the first Northwest location for Shinola, known for their American-built quality goods and Detroit pride since 2013.

To celebrate the opening, chef Joshua McFadden of Ava Gene's served a menu of revamped classic cocktails, plus small bites featuring locally sourced ingredients from the Pacific Northwest.

And now you can eat just as well at home with this charming collection of cocktail party recipes inspired by the event:

• Break out the sherry and pour a Rye Witch (get the recipe), a riff on the old-fashioned.
