Pssst. The weather is whispering a reminder that we're about to be in the best two months of the year. It's officially fall, and to celebrate the season of apples, pumpkins and all things spiced, we've made a cocktail that tastes like apple pie and cognac's love child. Get your jean jackets out of the closet, ignore your anxiety about the looming winter and raise a glass of autumnal bliss.

  • For the Rim
  • 1 teaspoon light brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 lemon wedge
  • For the Cocktail
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 1 ounce Cointreau
  • 1½ ounces Calvados
  • Ice
  1. On a small plate, combine the sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice. Rub the lemon wedge around the rim of a coupe glass then dip the rim into the spice mixture to coat. Set aside.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine the lemon juice, Cointreau, Calvados and ice, and shake vigorously. Strain into the prepared coupe glass and serve.
