Where To Drink And Shop In The City | Tasting Table NYC

How to make holiday shopping less painful

We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Between the crowds and the cold, holiday shopping in NYC can turn anyone into a Grinch.

A drink would help. We've plotted out shopping routes for everyone on your list–and the perfect places to grab a seasonal drink along the way.

West Village

Shop: Grab quirky utilitarian objets like lightning bolt-shaped USB strips at Kikkerland. For basil and tomato-scented candles, visit Jonathan Adler's new home accessories outpost. Try Flat 128 for British charms like Silken Favours's Anglophile-themed scarves.

Drink: A Betty Draper–an apple-y blend of gin, calvados, and sherry–from Wallflower will make you feel civilized again.

SoHo

Shop: Fjällräven, our favorite new Swedish import, carries Arctic-proof parkas. Next, hit Kate Spade Saturday for awesome graphic clutches, knit caps and dog coats (yes, dogs need outerwear).

Drink: Toast your success at Pegu Club with a seasonally spot-on pine-and-grapefruit Douglas Fir gimlet. Make it a double at Charlie Bird with a holiday-hued Blood & Sand (Scotch, cherry, orange juice, vermouth).

Williamsburg

Shop: Hit up British import Rough Trade Records for everything from Adele to Zappa. Don't get distracted by the beer on tap at heritage prep outfitter Gant Rugger's shop; you're here for plaid shirts and varsity jackets for guys and girls. OK, get a little distracted by the beer.

Drink: Treat yourself to the gingery spice of an In the Pines (Whistle Pig Rye, amaro and Velvet Falernum) at Reynard. Or, down a freshly drawn pint of Brooklyn Brewery's latest beer, the Fire & Ice porter.

Cobble Hill

Shop: Stock up on California-cool basics like stripy cotton shirts at Splendid. Sephora's new Brooklyn outpost is a wonderland of gifts, like O.P.I. nail art, Marc Jacobs perfume. Then hit Intermix for clothing from Stella McCartney and Brooklyn local Nadia Tarr.

Drink: Camp's Dirty Girl Scout is so wrong it's right–basically a hot, boozy send-up of the Thin Mint. A frothy beer goes down nice at the charming Brooklyn Inn.
