Sweetgreen In Flatiron

NYC gets its first Sweetgreen

A certain D.C. export is poised to answer the question we find ourselves asking, well, almost daily: "Where the #@!!% can I get a quick lunch that's tasty, locally sourced and not heinously expensive?"

A welcome addition to NoMad

The just-opened Sweetgreen adjacent to The NoMad Hotel, that's where.

Founded in 2007 by a trio of Georgetown University students, the eco-minded Sweetgreen has proliferated through the D.C. metro area, Philadelphia and Boston with a winning menu of speedy salads. Twenty locations later, it's clear those boys are doing something very right.

We're already smitten with the NYC menu, which features zucchini and yellow squash from Migliorelli Farm, peaches and apricots from Red Jacket Orchards and goat cheese from Coach Farm.

September's Salad

At a recent lunch, we zipped through the salad corral to pick up a Misoba salad ($8.85): organic mesclun with soba noodles, avocado, raw corn, carrots and cilantro, all topped with a miso-sesame ginger vinaigrette and a squeeze of Sriracha.

Ingredients for the September Salad

September will bring a featured salad of arugula, shredded kale, watermelon, heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, mint, feta and spicy sunflower seeds ($9.10).

Beyond the whoppingly big salads, there are warm grain bowls packed with greens, tart frozen yogurt, a range of lemonades and a sparkling case of organic fresh-pressed juices.

Did we mention you can order ahead online for easy pickup? We know–it's like the lunchtime gods are smiling down upon us.
