Bludso's Bar-&-Que Opens In West Hollywood
L.A. hasn't experienced a collaboration this epic since Kobe and Shaq wore the same uniform.
Kevin Bludso of Bludso's BBQ, home to the undisputed best barbecue in town, has joined forces with the team behind The Golden State beer bar to produce Bludso's Bar-&-Que, a well-polished space hidden along a high-end stretch of West Hollywood.
Smoke-intensive brisket and tender ribs paired with hoppy craft beers and pewter-cup Mint Juleps ($10) poured from a nitro tap: What more could you ask for?
With picnic-style seating, ample portions, and big screens on every wall, it's a joint we don't mind getting comfortable in.
We adored the combination trays ($65 or $110), which pile on every meat and side on the menu (barbecue is communal food, after all). A small tray feeds four easily, and includes mounds of blackened pork ribs, sliced brisket, rib tips, smoked chicken and spicy hot links. Purists note: Sauce comes on the side, as it should.
Then there are those hearty sides: ham-hock-infused collard greens, creamy coleslaw, mac and cheese, baked beans, potato salad, cornbread and house-brined bread-and-butter pickles.
End with a wedge of luscious red velvet cake ($5)–the real kind–baked by managing pitmaster Noah Galuten's mother.
