Culinary Weekend In Orlando
A visit to Orlando usually brings to mind theme parks, outlet malls and the underwhelming food that accompanies them.
A recent trip has changed our minds entirely about the city. Orlando offers plenty of opportunities for a fall weekend of outstanding dining, drinking and shopping adventures (see the full itinerary–with photos!).
Our itinerary focuses on areas outside the theme-park-heavy Lake Buena Vista area, although most of the locations are easily accessible (about a half-hour drive) to a vacationer doing Disney.
You may know the eggs from Lake Meadow Naturals Farm if you've tried the Farm Duck Egg at Michael's Genuine. Visit the idyllic duck, goat, chicken and turkey farm in Ocoee, just 20 miles or so northeast of Orlando.
Then tour the peaceful lakes that dot Winter Park and explore the neighborhood of enticing shops and restaurants, like The Ravenous Pig or the new Cask & Larder. Vietnamese-food fans will find a paradise of markets and pho noodle shops in the Little Vietnam area.
