Beer at a Sausalito wine bar

Our recommended order at Wellington's Wine Bar in Sausalito: beer, naturally.

We mean no disrespect. Wellington's wine list is plenty good, featuring bottles from around the world. Recently, though, British owner Jeremy John assembled an all-European beer list to rival his vinous selections.

Besides the more common Belgian and German brews, he pours some English gems. Try a limited edition Fuller's Vintage Ale ($14 for 400ml), served at room temperature and considered by many to be the king of ales.

St. Peter's Cream Stout ($7 for 16 ounces), with its deep-brown color and hints of malt, coffee and chocolate, will have any stout-drinking regular wonder why they've wasted so much time on any other tall, dark and creamy. For cider enthusiasts, Wellington's sells a rare bottling of smooth Aspall Cuvée Chevallier Double Fermented English Cyder ($25 for 750ml).

Then there's Wellington's location: If you're going to toss back a pint, you may as well do so with a beautiful view of the Bay. You won't find that at a Mission watering hole.
