Food2.com's Drinks With Alie And Georgia

Food2.com's cocktail stars are L.A.'s own

First there was the McNuggetini: an unholy concoction of vanilla-vodka-spiked chocolate milkshake served in a barbecue-sauce-rimmed glass, a Chicken McNugget resting on the lip.

A late-night drive-through binge in a glass, the drink became a viral sensation last year thanks to a how-to video from its creators, Alie Ward and Georgia Hardstark; the media coverage ran the gamut, from the New York Times to Perez Hilton.

If the drink was a joke, the video had its purpose: The two were auditioning to host the Travel Channel's Food Wars. They didn't get the job, but now they have their own show: Drinks With Alie & Georgia, on the Food Network's Food2.com. Two episodes in, and with another development deal in the works, Ward and Hardstark are poised to do the unthinkable: parlay a viral video hit into a career. They've already quit their day jobs, Ward leaving a staff writer position at the Los Angeles Times.

So if you're tired of historic cocktails, of egg whites in your alcohol, Drinks With Alie & Georgia is your respite. Irreverent and hilarious, the show features cocktails inspired by everything from after-school snacks to the desire for sushi (less the chewing).

Next week's drink is Drunken Donuts, a coffee-and-booze concoction garnished with a donut hole. We doubt you can match the wit of Ward and Hardstark while shaking and stirring at home, but you can download the recipe here and try it for yourself.
