From Earth To Kitchen Delivery Service

A zero-emission delivery service for your Greenmarket groceries

The amount of loot one can haul home from the Union Square Greenmarket varies directly with the size of one's biceps.

For those trips when you find yourself with more produce-filled totes than you can carry, there's a saving grace: From Earth to Kitchen.

Hail one of this new company's lime-green delivery tricycles to transport your groceries anywhere from 59th Street to Battery Park City with care–and sans carbon emissions (delivery service runs from $8 and up, click here to see a delivery map).

You can also order a "recipe basket" stocked with the ingredients for a recipe supplied by a local chef (restaurants like Blue Hill, Del Posto, Mas (farmhouse) and Gramercy Tavern have also been using the delivery service since it launched in June). And the recently launched Farmers' Lunch Menu provides seasonal, prepared foods from the Greenmarket delivered to homes and offices (click here for this week's menu). This fall will bring a solar-powered refrigerator bike to keep fish, meat and milk cold.

In addition, after you've turned all that produce into dinner, From Earth to Kitchen will pick up your compost scraps (for free), thereby bringing the kitchen back to the earth.

Find From Earth to Kitchen at the Union Square Greenmarket on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; 718-986-2948 or fromearthtokitchen.com
