Vintage Dishes And Kitchenware At Moon River Chattel | Tasting Table NYC
Stock your urban homestead at Moon River Chattel
If flea market-chic is the look-of-the-moment (thanks, Freeman's), then Moon River Chattel is the trend's Ikea. This Williamsburg shop peddles enough quirky, well-priced housewares and kitchen tools to give your apartment a turn-of-the-century makeover.
But owners Paul Sperduto and Christine Foley aren't just following the trend; they opened their shop 13 years ago and have sold antique fixtures, housewares and dishes since long before taxidermy became ironic artwork. Fill your cupboards with Tunis bowls made from ground stone and ash (from $20), porcelain Mud Australia dishware (from $15), handwoven French linens ($14) and gorgeous juice glasses etched with botanical images ($46 for six).
Across the street, you can poke around the store's annex, which sells salvaged and refurbished furniture: You'll find antique steel kitchen islands fitted with polished maple tops, porcelain sinks and fashionably derelict farm tables, all ready for your own urban homestead.
