Spicy Little Smokies Recipe
If you're looking for a great appetizer, little smokies are always a clever option. These mini sausages can be served in a so many ways, whether you're leaving a big pot of them in the crock pot, wrapping them in bacon, or simply serving saucy little smokies in a bowl with toothpicks on the side.
Often, little smokies are paired with a simple barbecue sauce. But what about when you want to kick things up a notch? Enter: spicy little smokies. "These little sausages are such a fun party appetizer," says food photographer and recipe developer Petar Marshall. "The kick of spice paired with a hint of sweet creates such fun flavor." And better yet? These tasty little sausages can be made with just five ingredients and under 5 minutes of prep time. Make them for a party, a potluck, or simply to enjoy on your own at home for dinner or a snack.
Gather the ingredients for spicy little smokies
To get started, grab your ingredients. For this recipe, you'll need, one package of little smokies sausages, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, chili garlic sauce, and your favorite barbecue sauce. "If you're serving a crowd, this recipe can easily be doubled or even tripled," notes Marshall.
Place the sausages in a baking dish
The first step is to turn the oven on to 400 F. Then, open the package and put all of the little smokies in a baking dish.
Make the sauce
Next up, prepare the sauce. Combine the Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, chili garlic sauce, and barbecue sauce in a bowl and stir until fully combined. "Feel free to adjust to your liking here. The chili sauce adds a nice kick, but add more if you want a super spicy dish," says Marshall.
Pour the sauce over the sausages
With the sauce ready, pour it over top of the little smokies and give them a stir. Then, bake the dish for 25 minutes until the little smokies are warm. Garnish the finished little smokies with chopped scallions, if desired, and serve immediately.
Of course, little smokies are classic appetizer, so bring these to your next party, potluck, or office gathering. There doesn't need to be a big event to enjoy them, though. Make them for a special family treat or snack — we guarantee that there won't be any leftovers.
