The Molly Yeh-Approved Trader Joe's Grain Blend
"Girl Meets Farm" star Molly Yeh caters to a very large audience, drawing in more and more viewers each season. In fact, Decider stated back in 2019 that "Girl Meets Farm" is the best show Food Network has produced in ages. With Yeh cooking delicious recipes that are both traditional yet trendy, all in a very close-knit, minimalist kitchen, she makes no excuses and proves that a delicious dish is not far away.
Yeh has a few favorites in her kitchen... OK, a lot of favorites. From her love for a Vitamix blender and wide variety of sprinkles for baking year-round, to farm-fresh eggs, her cast-iron pans, and farmhouse pottery pieces (via Martha Stewart), this is just the tip of the iceberg. And to make Yeh that much more love-able and relatable, she's a huge Trader Joe's fan as well.
While the frozen gnocchi, egg bites, sweet and spicy kettle corn, and horchata ice cream are enough to draw anyone in, there is one product that brings Yeh back to the store for more.
Trader Joe's Super Seed & Ancient Grain Blend
Kitchn sat down with famous chefs to ask what their one go-to product that they can't leave Trader Joe's without is, and the answers were quite surprising. To name a few, Food Network's Jet Tila said his seasonal coffee blends like gingerbread and pumpkin spice, A Brown Table award-winning blogger Nik Sharma said his jerk-style plantain chips, Hello Fresh Head Chef Claudia Sidoti said her wild caught red Argentinian shrimp, and "Girl Meets Farm" star Molly Yeh named Trader Joe's Super Seed & Ancient Grain Blend.
It's five dollars, full of all the good-for-you ingredients like flax seeds, buckwheat, millet, hemp seeds, amaranth, quinoa, and chia seeds. The best part? It's a smarter crunchy topping option for yogurt, with less sugar and more benefits. However, it doesn't have the sweetness that granola does, so adding a drizzle of honey helps, Yeh told Kitchn.
Molly explained to Kitchn that this blend helped implement more omega-3's into her diet during pregnancy, sprinkling it into her oatmeal each morning for a quick fix. The package also suggests adding it to cold cereal, or sneaking it into the batter of muffins or bread. How easy is that? Trader Joe's, you've done it again.
