Why You'll Be Seeing A Lot More Of Kinder Bueno Chocolates

Chocolate is one of the most popular dessert options. According to the Academy of Chocolate, over 3 million tons of cocoa beans are consumed each year around the world. From cakes to candies to cookies, it has become a staple when we think of sweet treats. In moderation, dark chocolate can even be beneficial for you, states Healthline. It contains fiber, iron, copper, magnesium, and manganese. It can even be a source of antioxidants and can reduce the risk of heart disease.

The Ferrero chocolate brand (the creators of Ferrero Rocher and Nutella) introduced its Kinder line of candy in 1968, reports Forbes. According to Kinder, this line is sold in 170 countries worldwide. The Kinder Egg was previously banned the United States due to a choking hazard (per the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission), but the product was modified and NPR reported in 2017 that it was set to be re-introduced to the American market. Another popular addition to the Kinder line is the company's Bueno bars. Now, as Food Business News reports, Ferrero North America is opening a new processing facility to keep up with the demand for its Kinder treats.

Kinder keeps up with demand

Kinder is opening its new processing plant in Bloomington, Illinois, reports Food Business News. They report that this $214 million investment will be dedicated to producing more Kinder Bueno chocolates, including full size bars and miniatures. Construction for the facility is set begin in the fall of 2022. This will be the first factory in America to produce Kinder Buenos. Ferrero previously broke ground on another factory at the same location, which will open in 2023 (via Business Facilities).

Kinder Bueno bars are made with hazelnut filling inside a thin wafer, which is then coated in milk chocolate and drizzled with dark chocolate. They were first released in North America in 2019, according to the Kinder website. The popularity of these candy bars increased over 51% in the last year, reports Food Business News.

Though the new factory will not begin production until 2024, Kinder Buenos can already be found at grocery stores across the country.
