How to Keep Christmas Cookies Fresh

A brilliant hack for sending holiday treats that saves them from going stale

All December long, we're bringing you the recipes, tips and tricks you need to Feast your way through the holidays, no matter how you celebrate the season.

It's the most wonderful time of the year... until you bite into a rock-hard Christmas cookie and realize you missed your chance to get a good sugar cookie or pfeffernuss this year. Whether you're shipping a cookie tin to family or saving a whole batch for yourself (no judgment), our friends at Cook's Illustrated have a brilliant hack for keeping cookies tasting like new.

Place tortillas in your tin to keep cookies fresh.

Stay with us. The cookies will absorb moisture from the tortillas, which also happen to fit neatly into a tin. If you sandwich a tortilla between two rounds of parchment paper, you'll never even know the tortilla is there. Plus, they're flat, so they don't create any extra bulk.

We were amazed at how well this trick works. Watch the video to see how it's done and say goodbye to stale gingersnaps forever.
