Where To Buy A Pumpkin Cake For Halloween 2018

Step away from the bag of grocery store candy

Everyone else may be elbow-deep in a bag of grocery store chocolates come Halloween, but we can think of a better way to get your sugar fill.

All-day café Épicerie Boulud just rolled out this adorable pumpkin-shaped cake, each of which is handmade by pastry chef Jayce Baudry. It's a (monster) mash-up of devil's food cake, white chocolate cornflakes crunch, dark chocolate mousse, vanilla marshmallow "brain" and orange marmalade.

Its Jack-o-Lantern grin looks innocent from the outside, but slice the cake open and an appropriately named blood orange coulis oozes out . . . hence the name "Bloody Jack Cake."

If you're in the New York area, you can order the cake for pickup from any of the three locations ($60 each). If not, here's some inspiration for how to create a smashing pumpkin situation of your own.
