Krispy Kreme's Pumpkin Spice Menu Is Happening Earlier Than You Think

It's been a big year for all of us — especially Krispy Kreme. Earlier this spring, Krispy Kreme brought back its Graduate Dozen, in which it gave away free boxes of glazed donuts to high school and college graduates who rolled into stores wearing caps and gowns or carrying diplomas. And around the same time, the donut giant released a line of honeybee-inspired doughnuts in support of bee habitat conservation. It even released a doughnut stuffed with an entire full-sized candy bar.

Now, Krispy Kreme is getting into the spirit of the upcoming fall season. In a press release this week, Krispy Kreme announced the return of its fan-favorite fall menu: Here comes pumpkin spice. This year, though, the return is happening earlier than ever. Pumpkin lovers can start looking for the fall menu starting on August 8 (which, according to the almanac, is nearly two months before the actual first day of Fall on September 22).

Per the press release, Krispy Kreme is rolling out this years' new Fall menu a full month earlier than in 2021.

Pumpkin spice up your life

As part of the donut giant's 2022 fall menu, Krispy Kreme will also be introducing two new products: the Pumpkin Spice Latte Swirl Doughnut and Pumpkin Spice Iced Coffee, says the press release. Alongside these new releases, Krispy Kreme is bringing back three seasonal doughnut flavors from previous years (the Pumpkin Spice Original Glazed Doughnut, the Pumpkin Spice Original Filled Cheesecake Doughnut, and the Pumpkin Spice Cake Doughnut) as well as the classic Pumpkin Spice Latte. Luckily, the latte comes hot, iced, or frozen, which might come in handy if you're planning on picking up a pumpkin-spice-themed breakfast in the beginning of August.

Last week, when Starbucks' fall 2022 menu was reportedly leaked on Instagram, Starbucks tried to downplay the ensuing excitement by commenting, "We're not quite ready to welcome fall and are still enjoying the last sips of summer, like the vibrant and colorful Starbucks Refreshers beverages." But, if accurate, the leaked menu says it will be hitting coffee shops on August 30. Krispy Kreme, however, has no intention of waiting that long to bring back fall faves.

Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme's Global Chief Brand Officer, acknowledges the menu's perhaps shockingly early release date, but says it's never too early to get into the spirit of the season. "Sure, pumpkin spice is generally associated with fall," Skena admits, via the press release. "But, true fans of the flavor will agree that August is close enough!"
