Starbucks Is Adding Ice Cream To Menus
It might be the depths of winter, but it's never too cold for ice cream if you ask us—or Starbucks. The coffee company is introducing affogatos to 100+ stores across the country, Business Insider reports. For the uninitiated, an affogato is a classic Italian dessert made by topping gelato or ice cream with a shot or two of espresso.
The company started testing the affogato last summer at the Seattle Roastery, where it became one of the shop's best-selling items—even in winter. The dessert will show up on menus at 10 Reserve bar locations in Los Angeles, Boston and Washington, D.C. In addition to a classic affogato, baristas will serve a cold-brew malt made with chocolate bitters, vanilla ice cream and cold brew. The treat will also grace the menu of 100 regular Starbucks outposts in Orange County, California.

This isn't the first time Starbucks has gotten into the ice cream game. Last summer, the company tried out affogato-style frappuccinos in flavors like caramel and mocha. And at one point, the company even made its own ice cream that was sold in supermarkets, though it was discontinued several years ago.
At the Seattle location, the affogatos are made with local ice cream. There's no word on who will be making the ice cream for the new treats at the 100+ stores, but regardless, we hope they make their way to us sometime soon.
