Standard Negroni
This bittersweet cocktail has received a surge of attention in the last year, and deservedly so. Like an Americano on steroids, the Negroni captures the heft and heart of an ideal apertivo.

Ingredients
- Ice
- 1 ounce gin
- 1 ounce sweet Italian red vermouth
- 1 ounce Campari
- Orange peel
Directions
- Fill a mixing glass or cocktail shaker with ice. Add the gin, vermouth and Campari. Stir until chilled, then strain into an ice-filled Old-Fashioned glass. Squeeze the orange peel over surface of the drink to express its oils. Dab the peel around the inside of the glass, then place the peel into the glass vertically and serve.
