When Memorial Day was declared a national holiday by an act of Congress in 1971, it was customary for businesses to close as a way to honor those who lost their lives while defending the United States. Granted, you will need to double-check with your go-to location, but historically, Starbucks has been there to fuel your holiday errands. In fact, the only days most Starbucks locations close are Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. So when you're driving around frantically to buy the always-forgotten hamburger buns or the vegan patties for your visiting cousin, stop for a caffeinated treat along the way.
