Baskin-Robbins Is Celebrating Winter With New Peppermint Cocoa Shake
A trip to the ice cream shop is always a treat, but throwing in a seasonal flavor is even more fun. Founded in 1945 by Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins, Baskin-Robbins has always been about finding enjoyment in eating ice cream. Offering 31 flavors from the beginning, the ice cream chain's tagline invites us to "seize the yay" and find any excuse, no matter how small, to celebrate with ice cream. And their seasonal flavors have a reputation for pushing boundaries.
October of 2022 saw the limited release of Spicy 'n Spooky. Baskin-Robbins described it as "The scary good scoop [that] combines White Chocolate Ghost Pepper flavored Ice Cream with rich, black Dark Chocolate Ice Cream and spicy Blood Orange Flakes." One reviewer on Kicks 99 gave the scoop a 9/10 rating and said, "The first bite I took was bursting with delicious blood orange flavor. So good! And then that ghost pepper sting came through on the back end." Releasing today, December 1, 2022, the Baskin-Robbins December "Flavor of the Month" sees the return of a classic flavor, which is all treat and no trick.
December's Flavor of the Month is refreshing, seasonal fun
According to a Baskin-Robbins press release sent to Tasting Table, the December "Flavor of the Month" is Peppermint, which features peppermint-flavored ice cream that's chock full of crunchy peppermint candy bits. Director of Research and Development for Baskin-Robbins, Jeanne Bolger, said Peppermint ice cream helps mark the beginning of the winter holiday season. "One of the things that make the holiday season so special is the classic, nostalgic flavors that return each year," she explained.
While Peppermint may be a returning favorite flavor for Baskin-Robbins fans, there's also a new treat that features the minty ice cream, the limited-time Peppermint Cocoa Shake. It's made with the December ice cream "Flavor of the Month," whole milk, and chocolate syrup, all blended to create a new holiday classic. A different holiday treat returns this month to Baskin-Robbins as well — Brr The Snowman Cake is frankly adorable, and can be ordered ahead, made with your choice of flavors of ice cream. Fans of discounts will also have a reason to cheer at the end of December, when Baskin-Robbins' Celebrate 31 promo means every scoop of ice cream is discounted 31% on December 31 to celebrate the chain's 31 original flavors.
