Tequila Herradura's Premium Legend Tequila Is Now Available Nationwide

If you're looking to winterize your favorite warm-weather cocktails, look no further than an aged tequila. Specifically, Tequila Herradura is asking tequila fans to look to its super-premium offering, Legend — which, according to a statement sent to Tasting Table — is now available nationwide for the first time ever.

Per Forbes, Tequila Herradura has been cranking out high-quality tequila for 150 years, making it one of Mexico's oldest distilleries in operation. For a true understanding of just how instrumental the distillery has been in the global tequila market, Herradura is credited with inventing the Reposado and Extra-Añejo categories of aged tequila. (Yes, really.) Its super-premium Legend was crafted by Casa Herradura's Master Taster Karinna Enriquez in 2020; the first creation Enriquez brought to the table for the brand. Since its initial release, Legend has emerged as an integral part of Herradura's portfolio of tequilas. According to the Herradura website, Legend has won six Gold Medals since hitting the market just two years ago. So, what's all the hype about? And how can fans try it for themselves?

A move toward accessibility

Per the distillery's website, the super-premium Tequila Herradura Legend is a small-batch Añejo tequila made from 100% blue weber agave. It features flavor notes of toasted oak, vanilla, citrus, caramel, sweet roasted agave, and dried fruit which make for a velvety mouthfeel. These are complemented by fragrance notes of oak, smokiness, and spice showcased in a deep amber color. Legend is naturally fermented, twice-distilled, and aged for a year or more in American white oak barrels for a smooth, lasting finish. It's called "super-premium" for a reason.

In the statement sent to Tasting Table, Jesus Ostos, brand director of tequilas at Brown-Forman, predicts that Legend's newly-increased availability will bring traction to the super-premium category as a whole in the tequila market. Legend is now available via online spirits purveyors Reserve Bar and Drizly for a suggested retail of $150 for a 750 ml bottle. Reserve Bar recommends Tequila Herradura Legend as a sipping tequila enjoyed in a flute glass.

When it first hit the market in 2020, Legend was only available in select markets in New York, New Jersey, Colorado, Oregon, California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina, via a press release. At the time, the price tag was $125, which has since increased to $150. But its nationwide release may mark a new chapter in fine-spirits accessibility, encouraging curious new tequila fans to dip into previously uncharted territory.
