Subway Is Giving Free Sandwiches To Flyers Stuck In The Middle Seat

There are few things as uncomfortable as being stuck in the middle seat on a long flight, but Subway is flying to the rescue. The sandwich chain isn't providing free upgrades to first class, but is giving free sandwiches to those poor souls in the middle seat.

The news about the free sandwich comes at an opportune time, as airlines are already seeing an increase in demand and are predicting that will only continue in the months ahead, according to Reuters. While there are economic concerns impacting the airline industry, including higher fuel prices, airlines have been able to handle the increased costs so far. This increased demand for travel has been exacerbated by the fact that many people are still able to work in a hybrid fashion, allowing for remote work.

Holiday travel is expected to be high in 2022. Forbes says that domestic travel will be a popular option this holiday season, but according to travel insurance data, many people are looking to go further away. On these longer journeys, no one wants to sit in the middle seat, but Subway is rewarding those who brave the "sandwich seat," per PR Newswire.
