With holiday parties trickling in, we've got the easy no-bake cookie recipe sure to please: smoked orange rum balls. These boozy treats are packed with spiced rum, pecans, walnuts, orange zest and smoked sea salt for a chewy sweet that’s quite addictive. Just be careful not to overindulge, or you'll start feeling more than a sugar high.

The orange and smoked salt play perfectly off the spiced rum; however, you can adjust the flavors to your liking. Other citrus zests, like grapefruit or Meyer lemon, would work well. And instead of smoked salt, you can swap in 1 teaspoon of kosher salt and ½ teaspoon of the spice of your choice, such as ground cinnamon or cardamom.

Smoked Orange Rum Balls

Recipe from the Tasting Table Test Kitchen

Yield: 3 dozen balls

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: N/A

Total Time: 10 minutes

2 cups (9 ounces) finely crushed vanilla wafer cookies

¾ cup pecans, finely chopped

¾ cup walnuts, finely chopped

1½ cups confectioners’ sugar, plus more for coating

¼ cup dark spiced rum

¼ cup light corn syrup

2 tablespoons cocoa powder

1½ teaspoons orange zest

1 teaspoon smoked salt

In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients and stir until thoroughly combined. Scoop 1-tablespoon-sized pieces of dough and, using your hands, roll into balls. Then roll the balls in a small bowl of confectioners’ sugar to coat, shaking off any excess; transfer to a platter and serve.
