OJ and Champagne: A match that will go down into the food hall of fame alongside PB&J, but one that's also due for an upgrade. At Compass Rose in Washington, D.C., bar manager Gina Robinson spikes her grapefruit version with a splash of passion fruit liqueur for a refreshing drink that's suitable well past brunch hours. If you can't find Bagrationi, the Georgian-made wine Robinson uses, you can substitute your favorite brut Champagne.

Make it a complete brunch with rhubarb waffles and breakfast focaccia.

½ ounce Giffard passion fruit liqueur

2 ounces grapefruit juice

4 ounces Bagatrioni sparkling wine

Grapefruit peel, for garnish


Pour the passion fruit liqueur and grapefruit juice into the bottom of a glass, and top with the sparkling wine. Garnish with the grapefruit peel and serve.
