International Spirits Challenge Named 2022's Best Super Premium Vodka
Vodka pairs well alongside a variety of mixers, like cranberry juice, orange juice, lemonade, and soda water to create a wide range of drinks. The versatile spirit can often be found in a screwdriver, Bloody Mary, or White Russian — or even just enjoyed on its own in a shot glass. Vodka has been around for centuries, probably originating in Eastern Europe sometime in the ninth century, with the first distillery appearing around 200 years later, according to Drink Stack.
Each year, the International Spirits Challenge (ISC) assesses a variety of spirits based on a number of qualities. According to its website, a panel of judges tastes a flight of products in each category and awards points based on each drink's aroma, appearance, taste, and finish. Once the scores have been collected and assessed, winners are chosen, and medals are awarded.
The 2022 awards have just been officially handed out and Purity Distillery received the highest honor in their category, as well as a few other awards.
Award-winning vodka takes the trophy
Purity Distillery announced that they had been named 2022's best super premium vodka by the ISC, according to PR Newswire. This is Master Blender Mathias Tonnesson's third trophy from the group.
They took the trophy in the Key Tasting Awards for their Purity Intense Organic Vodka, according to the ISC website. They also took home double gold medal awards for the same drink, as well as a gold medal for their Purity Connoisseur 51 Reserve Organic Vodka, and a gold for the Purity Signature 34 Edition Organic Vodka, per PR Newswire. They state that its Purity Signature previously took home a trophy and double gold awards from the ISC in 2020, as well as a trophy in 2019.
What makes Purity Distillery's vodka different is that it is processed several times in a copper still through a slow process, using organic Swedish wheat and malted barley. This process brings out depths of flavor, and creates a smoother sip in every drink.
