World's 50 Best Just Announced Its Top Restaurant For 2022

For 20 years, The World's 50 Best Restaurants has relied on an experienced panel of culinary experts and restauranteurs to compile lists of the most noteworthy restaurants across the globe. This year's voting system was no different. Announced at an awards ceremony in London, the celebratory occasion recognized outstanding entrepreneurs and chefs dedicated to exceptional hospitality and diverse cuisine (via The World's 50 Best Restaurants).

According to previous winning lists, honored restaurants have included France's Arpège, Denmark's Noma, Italy's Le Calandre, and America's Eleven Madison Park. The honor has become one of the most valued awards for chefs, with titles heralding dedication to the art and craft of gastronomy. The 2022 World's 50 Best winner has done just that — provided unforgettable dining experiences — and while the restaurant was previously listed second on the 2021 list, this year, the Copenhagen-based restaurant has claimed the coveted top position.

A team's commitment to excellence

As described by The World's Best Restaurant, Geranium is a place of creativity and experimentation, with a tasting menu of organic and biodynamic vegetables and regional seafood that arrive artfully presented on themed plateware. Also a three-Michelin-star recipient, Geranium's dining area, meat-free cuisine, and detailed dishes inspire guests (via Michelin Guide).

The mission of Geranium is stated simply on the restaurant's website: "Geranium's kitchen is lucid, light and dynamic. Our mission is to create meals that involve all our senses — restores, challenges and enriches." A three-hour tasting menu can be experienced for 3,200 Danish Krone, which is around $440 U.S. dollars, and wine pairings start at $275 USD.

At the awards ceremony, the restaurant's owner and chef, Rasmus Kofoed, shared the stage with his sommelier Søren Ledet, and expressed gratitude for their team's commitment and work ethic. "We have 15 different nations from four different continents working within the team, without their passion we could never accomplish our dream," Ledet told the crowd, with Kofoed acknowledging, "For me, this recognition is not about being better than another, it's a celebration of all of us" (via Fine Dining Lovers). Here's to continued success!
