Häagen-Dazs' New Ice Cream Was Inspired By These 'Big City' Flavors

Is there any foodie on earth who doesn't love street food? From tacos to hot dogs, French fries to kebabs, these curbside snacks can be relied upon to satiate a hungry human on the go. While many of us think of street food as savory, there are plenty of quintessential sweet street snacks to be devoured around the world — from crepes, to gelato, to waffles — and it's this genre of street food that has inspired Häagen-Dazs, the ice cream behemoth founded back in 1960, in its new line of indulgent frozen desserts.

The creator of iconic flavors such as Dulce de Leche, Bourbon Praline Pecan, and White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle recently unveiled its City Sweets collection, an assortment of ice creams and three ice cream bars that take their sweet cues from desserts sold on the streets of some of the world's favorite cities (via People).

Black and white cookies, churros, and pretzels

Some of the most iconic foods we associate with big cities are their signature desserts: think soft, cakey black and white cookies in New York and sugar-dusted churros in Madrid. So when we heard that ice cream OG Häagen-Dazs announced a new line of city dessert-inspired flavors, we were intrigued. Featuring well-known street foods such as pretzels and waffles, the fresh flavors are sure to please dessert lovers of all stripes.

"Whether you are scooping into crunchy, salty pretzel pieces, crispy churros with caramel, fluffy cake swirled with raspberry sauce or cookie chunks with delicate ripples of chocolate frosting, the new collection can be enjoyed by all as a way for people to experience a spin on street foods in different cities without leaving their homes," Häagen-Dazs wrote in a press release (via People).

The new flavors include Black and White Cookie, Coffee Chocolate Brownie, Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel, Dulce de Leche Churro, and Summer Berry, the latter three available in ice cream bar form, too. Available in select stores now, the full line will be available nationwide by April — so the next time you're craving street food and ice cream at the same time, grab yourself a City Sweets and a spoon.
