The Unexpected Reason Insomnia Cookies Just Launched 2 New Flavors

If you thought the 31-day Veganuary challenge was all about eating salads and steamed vegetables, you're in for a sweet treat. According to a press release, late night bakery chain Insomnia Cookies has introduced two brand new cookie flavors in celebration of the plant-based eating challenge.

Made entirely with vegan-friendly ingredients, Insomnia Cookies' new Chocolate Banana Bread Cookie features a double chocolate banana cookie base with chocolate chips and nibs. The All the Above Cookie (also vegan, naturally) is a brown sugar cookie loaded with chocolate covered pretzels, white and dark chocolate chips, coffee, and coconut.

By offering these new flavors, Insomnia Cookies aims to encourage customers — both vegan-curious and not — to learn more about what it means to go vegan, and part of that is showing them they can still indulge in a good cookie. Even if you're not sure you want to participate in Veganuary, these treats are a pretty good excuse to try it out. But these limited time flavors aren't the only vegan-friendly options on the Insomnia Cookies menu.

You can get vegan cookies from Insomnia Cookies year round

Since the new cookies are being rolled out as a Veganuary promotion, the Chocolate Banana Bread and All the Above Cookie will unfortunately only be available through the end of the month. However, that doesn't mean vegans can't eat at Insomnia Cookies any other time of the year. In September 2020, Insomnia Cookies officially announced on its website that the Vegan Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie would be offered at Insomnia bakeries nationwide for both pick up and delivery. (Previously the flavor could only be purchased at select locations.) In the announcement, Insomnia suggested more vegan treats would be coming.

Clearly vegan Insomniacs continue to grow in number, because (true to its word) in October 2020, Insomnia Cookies released three more vegan cookie flavors — Vegan Chocolate Chunk, Vegan Double Chocolate Chunk, and Vegan Birthday Cake — in celebration of World Vegan Day (via Bake Mag). These three flavors plus the Vegan Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie are now all part of the permanent menu ... who knows, if they prove popular enough perhaps the Veganuary flavors could be next.
